Making Good with Digital Photography
It's easy to get great results using today's consumer-grade digital cameras and photo processing software like Photoshop. It's also easy to get bad results. How do you make it good?Brian Johnson, professor of journalism at the University of Illinois, and Chris Brown, master photographer with Chris Brown Fine Commercial Photography, will share insights on how to chose and use a digital camera, and how to edit bitmapped images most easily and effectively for your web site.
Streaming Media Show and Tell
RealAudio, Quicktime, Windows Media, and MPEG4 have taken their place alongside textbooks and the classroom chalkboard. With the rapid evolution of streaming media technology, formats, and tools, it's a constant scramble to keep up. For new users, the streaming media universe presents too many confusing choices. If you want to venture into it, where do you begin?Paul Hixson develops streaming media applications in the College of ACES, focusing primarily on using QuickTime in presentations designed for audiences outside the campus network environment. Paul Riismandel heads the Audio-Visual Laboratory for the College of LAS, helping faculty developing streaming presentations for classroom materials and online learning. Jack Brighton directs web development at WILL-AM-FM-TV, where he designed a multi-format live and archival streaming system used by listeners around the world. They will demonstrate their work, and give you a peek behind the curtain to show how you can use streaming media on your web site.
