Launch, Maintenance, and Phase II
Launch
You've triple-checked for typos and accuracy, cross-browser, platform and ADA tested 'till you think you've found all the mistakes. More importantly, the site is due! You upload your files to the server. For no discernible reason, something will go wrong. Give yourself time to take care of it by launching your site at the lowest-possible traffic times.
Then be sure to publicize your launch! Send a note to e-week, listserv your audience if possible, update the link in your print publications.
Maintenance
Feedback
You'll be keeping a list of all the feedback your site generates. Plan for regularly scheduled updates and be sure to tag items with a priority level.
Keep a copy of your style guides, content planner, html specs, etc. They'll come in handy for Phase II.
More Feedback
Remember all those goals you set for the site back on the goals page? Now is the time to start tracking. You'll use your stats to make sure traffic is going to the right places, or has improved where necessary. Are folks downloading more applications than before? Are the SAT scores of your applicants improving? Are you getting more or less feedback from users than you had hoped--depending on your site and its challenges, you may be hoping to increase or decrease the frequency of phone calls or foot or online traffic. Use the results to prove your site's value and potential.
Phase II
Remember all those great ideas that occurred after the design freeze or were priority level 2? Now is when you start gathering content, designing and producing those sections.
