Using the templates

Download the zip file

Changing the Header

Page title and Deparment Name

You can make changes by opening mastertitle.png (if you prefer to work in Macromedia Fireworks) or mastertitle.psd (if you prefer to work in Adobe Photoshop). When you've finished making a new title, save it in .gif format at 72 dpi.

PC Specs

Page Title Adobe Garamond Pro. 34 points
Dept and University ID Univers LT Standard 55 roman. 10.7points w/ 6 points of kerning

MAC Specs

Same as above, but dept i.d. is 11 points high

Typefaces are expensive....unless you work here. For a departmental purchase, you can order the Adobe FontFolio --2200 fonts--(you need the cd and the license) through the MicroOrder Center at a fraction of the commercial cost. You'll need to fill out an SR form to get 'em, but it's well worth it. Want to see an example of typographic header fun?

Insert a photograph

In the header (line 46 for you code junkies!), insert the photo of your choice. Width is up to you, but it should be 76 pixels tall or your header will get funky. If you're using a photograph, save it as a jpg (as in the alma mater example above. If you're using line art (aka: type or drawings), save your file as a gif.

Many thanks to Amy Young and John Barclay who gave up their personal time to come up with excellent ideas for improving last year's templates and for catching bugs before the release.
